Law enforcement officers wrote that their colleague, 38-year-old inspector of the department of juvenile prevention, Oleg Sharpaty, died at about 21.00 in one of the sleeping areas of Chernigov.
A car hit Sharpaty at a pedestrian crossing.
“From the received bodily injuries, a police major died at the scene,” – said the police.
The policemen express condolences to the family and friends of their colleague.
“The police family will remember him as an energetic, responsible and professional specialist who has served the state in good faith,” the statement said.
