Referring to his father and grandfather – North Korea’s two previous leaders – Kim added that all his “efforts and sincerity” were not enough to “free the people from difficulties”.

This speech comes after North Korea has seen exports to China drop dramatically due to border closures in response to the pandemic. So far, the Pyongyang government guarantees that the country has not registered any cases of infection.
