New Research Confirms Existence of Mysterious Planet Nine Beyond Neptune: Latest Discoveries

KOMPAS.com – New research from the Caltech team to be published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters has found additional evidence to support the existence of a mysterious planet known as “planet nine.”

Professor of planetary astronomy at the California Institute of Technology, Michael Brown, said that it is highly unlikely that there is no planet nine.

Brown said that if there was no planet, scientists would have to find five to six different explanations to explain the strange things that appear in the outer part of the solar system, which was quoted from Newsweek.

Researchers have now tracked the long-term orbital motion of a trans-Neptunian Object (TNO) in the outer solar system. They also defined different orbital positions based on its motion.

Scientists also submitted data regarding Neptune’s gravity and galactic tides.

They found that the most plausible explanation for the irregular movements of these objects is an undiscovered giant planet.

However, the position of planet nine has not yet been determined in detail.

“One of the inevitable effects of planet nine, if it exists, is that it sometimes pushes the TNO orbit much closer into the sun,” Brown said.

“Without planet nine, there would be fewer TNOs and their inner orbits would be pushed in past Neptune,” he continued.

Planet nine theory

Planet Nine has long been theorized to explain the strange orbits of the dwarf planets orbiting the Sun beyond Neptune.

For your information, Neptune is the third largest planet in the solar system and also the most distant planet in our solar system.

The strange orbit was observed among a cluster of true trans-Neptunian objects (TNO) from Neptune.

In fact, when viewed from its distance, the TNO cluster is closer to Neptune than to the Sun.

In 2015, the same research team found mathematical evidence of the existence of a planet with a mass ten times that of Earth.

Scientists argue that planet nine also orbits the sun at a very long distance and is estimated to be 20 times further than the distance from Neptune to the Sun.

Research in 2015 showed that planet nine takes between 10,000 and 20,000 Earth years to orbit the sun once.

Scientists also revealed that the planet orbits the sun following a long, elliptical path.

Its gravitational effect is thought to be responsible for the unusual clustering of TNO’s orbits around the Sun.

Attempts to confirm planet nine

Even though it is still only a hypothesis, it is possible that planet nine can be confirmed using a large digital camera.

The Vera Rubin Observatory in Chile will soon begin a Legacy Survey of Time and Space (LSTT) using the largest digital camera ever built.

Scientists will study the entire sky every night with an 8.4 meter high mirror telescope called the LSST camera, reported Space.

The LSST camera has a sharpness of 3,200 megapixels and is the same size as a car. This camera weighs 3 metric tons or half the weight of a male African elephant.

The wide field of view from the LSST camera will capture various objects in the solar system. This large digital camera will be able to confirm evidence of Planet Nine, which is believed to exist.

The evidence for planet nine discussed is orbital clustering, orbital plane alignment, and orbital inclination.

If any of these hypotheses are delusions caused by observational bias, Vera Rubin’s observations will reveal this.

In addition, this large digital camera can also strengthen the evidence of the existence of planet nine and find more TNOs, as well as show the possibility of the same effect.

This large digital camera will test all evidence of gravity with a new study that is independent and unbiased like previous studies.
