Police and police officers in Prague set out to inspect pubs

Among other things, the police checked restaurants, bars and other businesses, which must observe the closing time at 20:00 from Friday evening. In front of the dispensing windows, people must keep a distance of two meters.

From Friday to Sunday, city police officers dealt with 111 cases in which government regulations were violated in connection with restaurant facilities and bars. “Of this number, 85 cases were resolved by agreement, 22 cases were resolved by a fine on the spot in the total amount of 22,200 crowns. Four cases were reported to the administrative body,” said Eduard Šuster, director of the city police.

Already on the night from Friday to Saturday, with the tightening of emergency measures, especially in connection with the closure of establishments, police officers carried out inspections throughout the Czech Republic. “In most cases, everything was without problems, the violations found are in the order of dozens,” the police said on Twitter.

“Conflicts were rare, most often we dealt with the announcement that the guests moved to the sidewalk in front of it after the bar closed. However, this did not violate the ordered measures, as well as the operators who continued to provide their services through the dispensing window,” she added.

In restaurants and pubs, the opening hours have been reduced from 22:00 to 20:00 since Friday. They can reopen the device at 06:00. Only four people may sit at one table, at least one and a half meters away from the others. As in clubs or discos, live music and dancing are prohibited in restaurants.

After 8 pm, establishments can only sell snacks outside, ie from the dispensing windows. If people stay on the sidewalks to continue drinking alcohol in the evening, they violate the measures if they do not keep their distance. On Sunday, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) drew attention to such cases on his Facebook page. He supported them with photographs from the center of Prague, in which people gather in front of the facilities at night. According to him, they underestimate the situation.
