Escalating Anti-Israel Sentiments and Support for Hamas in Russia

This evening, a crowd of local residents gathered near the Makhachkala airport, allegedly waiting for passengers on a flight from Tel Aviv. This was probably a Red Wings flight scheduled to arrive at 7:00 p.m. According to Flight Radar, it landed at 7:17 p.m.

At first, the crowd demanded documents from passengers leaving the airport to check whether they were Israeli citizens, and later they generally broke into the building and began “searching for Jews.”

In the released videos, you can see a crowd running inside the airport and breaking into different rooms and offices to find passengers allegedly arriving from Israel. At the same time, you can notice, and the Russian media also write about this, that the local police are doing nothing.

According to the latest Russian media reports, the airport administration invited the crowd to identify three people who would enter the plane with cameras to make sure that there were no Israeli citizens there. Meanwhile, a crowd had already gathered near the plane.

Several Israelis from the flight that landed in Makhachkala were isolated and taken under guard at the airport in Dagestan, the Times of Israel reports, citing an Israeli official.

“A limited number of Israelis and Jews are currently isolated and under guard at the airport. We are working to have them board a connecting flight to Moscow as soon as conditions allow. Israeli security officials and the Israeli Ambassador are working with local security authorities.” said the Israeli official.

Anti-Israel sentiments in the Russian Federation

Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, anti-Israel sentiments have become more frequent in Russia. Russians on social networks support Hamas terrorists and speak out against Israel and its citizens.

And in the Russian North Caucasus, inhabited by Muslims, they generally resort to pogroms. So, in Khasavyurt last night, local residents threw stones at the Flamingo Hotel, where they thought refugees from Israel were hiding. The crowd calmed down only after they were allowed to check the hotel to make sure there were no Israelis there.

In addition, anti-Israeli rallies took place in Cherkessk yesterday. The Circassian crowd demanded that “Israeli refugees” be prevented from arriving in the region, and that Jews be evicted from it.

And in Nalchik, unknown persons set fire to a Jewish cultural center that was still under construction. Someone threw burning tires onto his property, and anti-Semitic statements were written on the wall.

Russia is on the side of Hamas

The Russian leadership also takes a clearly non-Israeli position in this conflict. Moreover, it rather supports the Hamas terrorists. Recently, an entire Hamas delegation came to Moscow for negotiations.

In Israel, this visit drew criticism and condemnation. And today the Russian ambassador was called to the carpet at the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

War in Israel

Let us remind you that on October 7, Hamas militants invaded Israel. After this, Israel began an operation to clear its territory of terrorists, and also launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip. The next stage was the ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

Recently, Israeli troops entered the Gaza Strip. According to media reports, they have already advanced more than 3 kilometers.
