Rodwin Allicock died yesterday while working in a Long Island (NY) cemetery, when the grave he was digging collapsed on him.

Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office said the 42-year-old laborer was “leveling the bottom” of a more than two meters deep that collapsed on him in Washington Memorial Park on Mount Sinai, around 8:30 a.m.

Co-workers tried to get Allicock out, but were unsuccessful, police said in a news release. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by Suffolk County Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), reported New York Post.
