Günther appeals to refrain from private meetings

The background to this is the number of new infections that almost or completely broke the threshold of 100 in the Pinneberg, Segeberg and the city of Flensburg. According to Günther, Schleswig-Holstein is still doing relatively well in a nationwide comparison when it comes to the development of the incidence figures. It has the lowest rate of new infections and the lowest rate of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. “We want it to stay that way,” said Günther. He emphasized: “The step-by-step plan in Schleswig-Holstein takes effect both when values fall and when values rise.” Stick to the “consistent course in Schleswig-Holstein.” That means opening when the situation permits and closing when the situation so requires. Günther further emphasized that he supports Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) in her action against the corona pandemic. He sees the number of new infections with concern, said Günther. However, he does not see a need for an early Prime Minister’s conference.

“Infections mostly indoors”

Günther appealed to the people of Schleswig-Holstein to refrain from private meetings in closed rooms. Because: “Infections usually arise indoors,” said the Prime Minister. Those who do meet should rather do so outside. If at all, meetings in closed rooms should only take place with a mask or after a rapid corona test.

Regarding a possible rush of day tourists on Schleswig-Holstein’s coasts over the Easter days, Günther said there were tried and tested models from last year. “We will discuss this on the part of the country with the districts.”

Hope for outdoor dining?

If the incidence stays below 100 in the long term, one could talk about opening outdoor restaurants cautiously after Easter, said Günther. If it happens that the national incidence is above 100, then it is likely that no exceptions will be made in individual districts, even if they have a lower incidence. The country would also impose curfews, as they have already been imposed in Flensburg, if the numbers are correspondingly high.

Günter also announced that his government would present test strategies for schools on Tuesday. Furthermore, Günther emphasized that he was in favor of meetings of the Prime Ministers in person – according to the applicable hygiene standards. He would like to have a chat “without any statement immediately getting out, at least I don’t feel like it anymore and give up my cell phone voluntarily,” he said.
