Deservedly: Lily Ivanova became an awakener

Popular names from the Bulgarian cultural life tell who their awakeners are with a photo exhibition. It was opened today in front of the National Theater in Sofia and will remain there until November 14, bgonair.bg reported.

The primates of the native popular music and opera – Lili Ivanova and Raina Kabaivanska became awakeners of an exhibition. Their portraits are part of the photographic exhibition on display in the garden in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theater.

In addition to the two singers, the project “My Awakeners” also includes actors Tsvetana Maneva, Koyna Ruseva, Marius Kurkinski, Julian Vergov, Boyka Velkova, Hristo Mutafchiev, musicians Vasko Vassilev and Teodosii Spasov, director Teodor Ushev, writer Georgi Gospodinova and ballet dancers Marta Petov. The project asks the question “Who are your awakeners?”, Aiming to make more people share words of gratitude to their awakener, to discover a new modern awakener or to become an awakener for someone.

“My awakeners are all the people I have met in my life – great artists, parents, teachers,” said actress Boyka Velkova.

Raina Kabaivanska, Teodor Ushev, Georgi Gospodinov, Vasko Vassilev, Lili Ivanova and many others speak with gratitude for the personalities who awakened in them the love for culture and art. The project also includes prima ballerina Marta Petkova and prime minister soloist Nikola Hadjitanev of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

“My awakeners are my teachers, who taught me to fight, to want, to be able to,” said ballerina Marta Petkova.

“The biggest awakener for me remains the stage, but I can say many names, even Marta, Yasen Elchanov, Mikhail Barishnikov and many others,” said ballet dancer Nikola Hadjitanev.

The author of the photos is one of the most talented Bulgarian photographers – Kostadin Krastev – Koko, who has been working on the project for almost three months.

“Meeting these inspiring and successful people, true awakeners of our time, is a great thing. It was a great pleasure for me to photograph them and touch them for at least an hour,” said Coco.

The initiative supports the social and health fund of the Union of Artists in Bulgaria. Part of the funds will be used for scholarships for acting students.

The videos of the participants will be available throughout November in the social media of the Union of Artists.
