Counter-Strike 2 Update: New UI Changes, Inventory Screen, and Chicken Roasting Feature

Counter-Strike 2 from Valve, which can already be tested by a limited number of veterans of the multiplayer shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, is constantly being improved through frequent updates. At the same time, there was a new first major updatewhich brings especially changes in the user interface area.

Valve has decided to say goodbye to the circular item purchase menu at the start of each round, which you can meet in CSGO. Rather than a return to the menu offered by the original Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Source or everyone’s favorite Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, but it is supposed to be a certain upgrade, thanks to which you should see more on one screen. At the same time, it is not missing either a refund option for any weapon you’ve already bought that round but haven’t used yetor indicators that give you an overview of what your teammates are equipped with.

The inventory screen has also changed, i.e. the equipment where you can edit your weapon supply. Both Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists have slots for 4 weapons, 5 medium range weapons (machine guns and heavy weapons), and 5 rifles (including the option to take both variants of the M4 assault rifle into battle). You can customize the weapon purchase menu by simply dragging the selected item into the appropriate slot.

The update should also please modders, as Counter-Strike 2 now features support for Workshop Tools, which can be enabled and downloaded via the game’s settings. These tools give creators the ability to create their own maps, weapon stickers, or weapon skins. So it looks like the modding community with an interest in the Source 2 engine, as well as gamers who like user content, are in for a treat.

Perhaps the most important and most striking novelty that Counter-Strike 2 can now boast is related to the legendary chickens. These originally appeared on the classic cs_italy map in the original Counter-Strike, and over the years they have become one of the icons of the entire series. And CS2 treats them as they should. A Twitter user with the nickname Aquarius posted a video that showsthat if you throw a molotov or incendiary grenade at the chickens, they no longer just explode into a puff of feathers. It just turns into a beautiful roast.

It’s nice to see that the developers at Valve obviously still have a sense of humor and that Counter-Strike 2 isn’t necessarily dead serious in every way. Although we doubt the developers have as much sense of humor as the tournament organizers at ESL. They recently released an interesting video that reveals some less expected news and ways to revive the meta. Is it all just a joke? Judge for yourself.
