Coronavirus, some countries are more at risk for a second wave: here are which

The coronavirus has not disappeared and seen the rise of infections in countries who seemed to have stemmed the epidemic, the return of one seems increasingly evident second wave. If the experts all seem to agree with this, it must be said that not all countries will have the same frisk actorin fact, some will be more affected by the return of the covid than the others.

Among the 45 countries most affected by the epidemic (that is, with more than 25 thousand covid infections), 21 have eased the distance measures. Among these, ten are registering a new increase in cases (compared to last week) and are at risk of a second wave of epidemic, emerges from an analysis by the Guardian and the University of Oxford. Among these countries, there are the United States, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Germany and Switzerland, but not Italy.

A country is considered to be “relaxed” if its severity index is below 70, on a scale of 100 developed by the researchers of the Blavatnik School of Government of the University of Oxford taking into account several factors. The rate of reproduction of infections in Germany for example has risen to 2.88 in recent days while the rigor index has dropped from 73, at the beginning of May, to 50.

Eleven countries, on the other hand, including Spain and Italy, have relaxed the spacing measures, their rigor index is less than 70, but they continue to record a drop in cases. They may not feel safe from a second wave, but the situation is better. Of the countries most affected by the pandemic, seven are still under lockdown, with a severity index of between 70 and 80, and continue to report an increase in cases. Among these are Brazil, where, despite President Bolsonaro’s denial rhetoric, the various states maintain isolation laws, and India. But the most serious situation is that of the nine countries that are still in the first phase of the epidemic, with stringent measures and cases that are drastically increasing, including Bolivia, Argentina and Colombia
