Preventing Dengue Cases in PPU: Health Department Implements Cross-Sector Measures

In handling and preventing the increase in dengue cases in PPU, the Health Department has carried out cross-sector and cross-program outreach. Apart from that, the government also sprays insecticides.

Kaltim.akurasi.id, Penajam – In an effort to overcome the spike in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases, the North Penajam Paser Regency Health Service (Dinkes) has taken various preventive and coordinating steps with related parties. One of them is intensifying efforts to disseminate information about the dangers of dengue fever to the public.

This is done because there are still many people who do not understand the dangers of dengue fever. So the level of awareness of this disease is in danger of decreasing.

The Head of DLH PPU through the Head of the Public Health Section (Kasi) of the PPU Health Office, Harjito Ponco Waluyo, said that his party had carried out cross-sector and cross-program socialization. In fact, his party has held a meeting chaired directly by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) regarding the spike in dengue fever cases in Benuo Taka – as PPU Regency is known -.

“We have carried out outreach across sectors and across programs. “Yesterday we immediately had a meeting chaired by the Regional Secretary,” said Harjito Ponco when met by journalists Akurasi.idrecently.

Harjito Ponco said, although dengue cases tend to appear in a five-year cycle, they still need to be taken seriously. And you have to anticipate the spike. This is caused by a lack of public understanding of the dangers of dengue fever.

“Actually, this is like a 5 year cycle. Over the past 5 years, the numbers have been high. “But in the last 3 years it has only appeared in Sepaku 1 and 2 sub-districts. It even appeared yesterday in Babulu,” he explained.

He emphasized that although the larvae-free rate in Babulu is still low, namely below 95 percent, the potential to become a source of the spread of dengue fever is very high. This is a serious concern for the PPU Health Office to continue to carry out more intensive outreach and prevention efforts.

The PPU Health Office does not only rely on outreach efforts, but also takes concrete steps in dealing with dengue cases. These efforts include controlling the population of mosquitoes that carry the dengue virus, one of which is by spraying insecticides.

“Another effort is also to provide education to the public about the importance of maintaining a clean environment. “As well as strengthening the health system for more effective handling of dengue cases,” he added.

Apart from that, the PPU Health Office is also intensively monitoring and evaluating the spread of dengue fever in various regions. Especially those who are vulnerable to an increase in cases.

“This is done to ensure that the actions taken are in accordance with the development of the situation and the needs of the local community,” he concluded. (adv/diskominfoppu/zul/uci)
