Vaccine production is being expanded in Germany – and this is to happen soon in the Reinbeck company Allergopharma. There they are preparing to produce the Biontech vaccine.
The drug manufacturer from the Stormarn district is a subsidiary of the Bavarian Dermapharm Holding. And that in turn has a cooperation with the Mainz company Biontech. Employees are now being trained in Reinbek for the new order for the production of the corona vaccine. This was confirmed by a company spokeswoman for the NDR Schleswig-Holstein. Previously, the “Hamburger Abendblatt” had it reported. When exactly it will start is not yet certain. Just this much: the start should take place in a few weeks.

The size of the order remains unknown
How many vaccination doses are produced in Reinbek is also unclear. The spokeswoman announced that it should be the largest corona vaccine production by Dermapharm. Since there is a confidentiality agreement with Biontech, no details are leaked. The “Hamburger Abendblatt” reported that capacities were being built up in Reinbek that were higher than in Brehna near Leipzig. Vaccine has been produced there in a Dermapharm sales hall since October.
On Wednesday it became known that the corona vaccine from Biontech and the US partner Pfizer will soon also be produced in Halle in North Rhine-Westphalia. Biontech and Pfizer want to produce two billion doses of their corona vaccine this year under certain conditions. This emerges from Biontech’s documents to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Biontech vaccine first approved
In Schleswig-Holstein, vaccinations with the preparation from Biontech and Pfizer, which was the first to be approved in the EU, have been running since the end of December. This week, the northernmost state also received the first doses of the Moderna vaccine. According to the Ministry of Health, this will initially be used for hospitals and their staff authorized to vaccinate.
