Christmas market in Lower Saxony: there is still hope here!

Region38. More and more circles in the region38 and in Lower Saxony are considered a risk area. That means: special events fall into the water in many places.

But in some areas in Lower Saxony there is still hope for one Christmas Market – albeit in a modified form. We have taken a closer look at the plans for this in Region38!

Lower Saxony: Christmas markets during the corona pandemic? They could still take place here

City of Braunschweig:

The Christmas market in Braunschweig has been canceled, but city marketing is currently looking at alternatives. Individual stands are to be placed in a loose arrangement in the squares in the city center and in selected streets. “But these plans also depend on further decisions at federal and state level,” explains city marketing boss Gerold Leppa.

District of Gifhorn:

Gifhorn: Visually, the city is already getting in the mood for Christmas, and this year there will be festive decorations. The Christmas market does not take place as usual. It is not yet clear whether and how individual stands can be set up in the city.

Tired (of all): The Christmas market is canceled.

Isenbüttel: The Christmas market has been canceled.

District of Goslar:

Goslar: Goslar Marketing GmbH and the city canceled the Christmas market and forest. “In the past few months I have enjoyed working on trying a Christmas Goslar, a decentralized Christmas market,” says Goslar’s Mayor Dr. Oliver Junk. However, it is important to prevent another complete lockdown. The Christmassy design of the city center should nevertheless set atmospheric accents.

Bad Harzburg: The Christmas tree does not take place in the Corona winter.

Clausthal-Zellerfeld: The city has canceled the Christmas magic.

District of Helmstedt:

Königslutter am Elm: The city has canceled the Christmas market, which was supposed to start on November 28th.

Teaching: The Christmas market is canceled.

Helmstedt: The Christmas market does not take place in the known form, it is possible that isolated stalls may be set up on the market square. That should be decided on December 1st.

Schöningen: “We very much regret this step, but it is currently not possible to hold such an event,” said Mayor Malte Schneider. However, we are already looking forward to an adapted Christmas market next year.

Grasleben: The Christmas market does not take place.

Mariental: The wine Christmas market has been canceled.

Warberg: There will be no market at Warberg Castle this year.

District of Peine:

Penalty: No Christmas market on the historic market square in Peine! “We hoped to the end, but the country’s new regulation has banned the holding of Christmas markets. It is only valid until the end of November, but a shortened market was not economically feasible for the market feeders ”, regrets Harald Stolte, Managing Director of Peine Marketing. It is currently being checked whether individual stands can be set up in the city.

Vechelde: The Christmas market does not take place.

Wendeburg: All events in Wendeburg have been canceled.

Lengede: The community has canceled all events.

Wolfenbüttel district:

Winnigstedt: The Christmas market is not held.

Erkerode: The Christmas market at Rittergut Lucklum is canceled.

Baddeckenstedt: The Christkindlmarkt has been canceled. There is only hope for the next Advent: “We are really very sad and think that there will be another Christmas market next year, just as we have known it here in Oelber for more than 15 years,” announce the organizers.

Wolfenbüttel: The city has canceled the market due to the corona virus, but there will still be twinkling lights in the city center until January 6th.

Cramme: The Christmas magic does not take place.

Dorstadt: Because of the pandemic, no Christmas market is celebrated on the manor.

City of Salzgitter:

The Christmas markets in Lebenstedt, at the Gebhardshagen moated castle and the Advent meeting at Salder Castle are canceled. The city of Salzgitter has now come up with a plan B. You can find out what it looks like here!

City of Wolfsburg:

City of Wolfsburg: At the end of October the city announced that it wanted to organize the “Wolfsburg Advent Weeks” instead of the canceled Christmas market, and at the beginning of November the city canceled this replacement. At that time, according to the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine”, the option of organizing an alternative event at short notice was kept open. This seems difficult to implement under the possibly extended lockdown.

Autostadt winter world: Was cancelled. Although there is also a Christmas tree and festive decorations this year, all events have been canceled.
