“But only a few of you probably knew me when I played my first role, baby Burt Grissell, on ‘Days of Our Lives,'” she said, referring to her screen debut in 1972.
Showing off a photo of herself as a child, Applegate gleefully added that “it was a really impressive role,” and continued that throughout her career, “it’s been an honor to play funny, complicated characters.”

Applegate was also nominated for an Emmy this year for her role in the Netflix series Dead to Me, but Abbott Elementary star Quinta Branson won the best actress in a comedy series.
In May 2023, Applegate said in an interview with Vanity Fair that working on Dead to Me could be her last acting job due to the progression of her multiple sclerosis.
“I probably won’t work in front of the camera anymore,” Christina Applegate added, admitting that although she liked the job and the great team, shooting the series was a real “struggle.”
