The victim’s name is Bassem Braïki. Blogger in Vénissieux (Rhône), he is adept at ranting and pecking online. During the night of Monday to Tuesday, Sadek, rapper from Neuilly-Plaisance, traveled several hundred kilometers to come and beat him up. The images are immediately swayed on social networks, Twitter ignites: Sadek and Bassem teams are created. Since then, an investigation has been opened by the Lyon public prosecutor’s office for “aggravated voluntary violence”, entrusted to the departmental security service of the Rhône.
“I’m going to show everyone how you are a big whore”
The rivalry between the two men began a few days earlier. Saturday, the rapper with millions of views on Youtube is supposed to occur during a showcase in Saint-Priest (Rhône). Bassem Braïki, known for his sometimes racist, sexist and homophobic positions, does not hear him that way and calls on his supporters to disrupt the concert. The club finally decides to cancel the evening, for fear of overflows: the first attack is launched. This is not the first time that the much-contested Bassem has attempted to scuttle such an event. In 2016, he managed to cancel the Booba concert, which he accused of disparaging the image of Maghreb women.
Sadek responds on Snapchat: “I sent him several messages this morning, but he does not deign to answer me. Send him lots of messages and let him know that Sadek wants to converse in the most pleasant way. “ Then he speaks directly to his rival: “You have until 4:00 p.m. to send me an address, or I’ll show everyone how big a whore you are.” Neither one nor two, Bassem responds, still through Snapchat, a new field of war. He films himself recovering a mail, not hesitating to throw a few spades in Tunisian dialect to his opponent. Stop at his address: the invitation is sent.
Then the situation ignites in everyone’s eyes: Bassem lets go of the rapper’s wife, calling her “Whore” in yet another video. Sadek then unveils photos of the blogger in the midst of sexual intercourse with his partner, arousing laughter from the twittosphere. “Come downstairs from my house.” It’s February 10: nerves are mounting, Sadek takes his word for it.
“Hey oh, hey oh, we’re coming home from work”
In the night from Monday to Tuesday, it is around 4:00 am when Bassem returns home. He works at night in the Carbone Savoie company, which specializes in the manufacture of carbon and synthetic graphite. Leaving his car, he is greeted by Sadek and his gang. He was beaten for long seconds, filmed by several phones. In the car that brings him back to Paris, the rapper posts a new video, his hands red with blood. Hilare, he intones “Hey oh, hey oh, we’re coming home from work”, imitated by his friends. Bassem is evacuated to the Lyon Sud hospital, “Without its vital prognosis being engaged”, specifies the parquet floor.
Tuesday morning, the videos went viral. The blogger’s brother, elected in Vénissieux (PCF), reports to Progress than “His condition is no longer critical […] He is aware and told us what happened “. And adds: “We see calls for violence and revenge blossoming. Let it be clear, our family does not want that! We are victims and we want reparation, but through justice. ”
Quickly, Sadek expressed himself on this dismal trip via Instagram, saying that he regretted his gesture. “I am not proud of myself. I gave in to violence, to hatred like a fool, but I could no longer bear the threats “, he claims before warning the “Little brothers” : “I’m going to pay for it, I’m aware of it.
