In Baden-Württemberg, for the first time in months, the number of new corona infections exceeded a critical level. The city of Heilbronn is affected – there is now an advance warning level.
In Heilbronn, the so-called 7-day R value is just under 39. This means that 39 out of 100,000 residents have tested corona-positive in the past seven days. This means that the pre-warning level (35 new infections) has been exceeded. Drastic steps up to the shutdown are only taken from a 7-day R-value of 50.
According to the State Health Office, the corona cases are largely due to vacationers. The negative trend had already become apparent in the past few days. Health Minister Manfred Lucha (Greens) had already intervened on Saturday. A spokesman for the Ministry of Health told the SWR on Sunday that he phoned the Mayor of Heilbronn, Harry Mergel (SPD), and informed him of the infection situation.
Further circles are approaching the critical 7-day R-value
The ministry has announced that the tests in Heilbronn will now be expanded. The Heilbronn Health Office is to be supported by the State Health Office in order to cope with the increasing number of samples. Health Minister Lucha also appealed to the people in Heilbronn to be even more careful from now on. Other circles in Baden-Württemberg are also getting closer to the critical mark. In Ulm, the 7-day value is just under 29, in the Biberach district a good 20 infections per 100,000 inhabitants and in Stuttgart 20.
