Wentworth Miller announced Monday July 26 that he discovered he was autistic last fall. On his Instagram account, the actor of Prison Break mentioned having “Received an informal diagnosis of autism. Preceded by a self-diagnosis. Followed by an official diagnosis ”. The 49-year-old comedian explained that he owed this awareness to the health crisis linked to the coronavirus and to “Life in quarantine” that she trained.
He recounted on the social network having received these medical opinions as “Unexpected gifts” in the midst of his isolation. Wentworth Miller said learning he had autism spectrum disorder was “A shock but not a surprise”. The actor also admitted that having had access to diagnostic methods represented “A privilege of which few [de gens] benefit “.
“Re-examine five decades of life experiences”
This recent revelation from doctors about his condition allowed the 40-year-old to discover that he knew little about autism. He wrote wanting to fill these gaps. “There is a lot to know, he said. At the moment my work seems to focus on the evolution of my understanding ”. For this, Wentworth Miller will notably have to “Reexamine five decades of life experiences through a new filter”, he confided.
Knowing himself to be influential, the actor of Legends of Tomorrow said he did not want to risk sharing misinformation about autism. By his message, he simply wished “Raise your hand and say ‘I’m here'”. The comedian has promised to share links to reliable sources of information soon. He also wanted to thank “The very very many people” who took his situation into account “Consciously or unconsciously” in the past.
