Accompanied by four women – St. Blasien

BZ SERIES: Who was it, who is it?.

. If the parents at the birth of their son could only have guessed what career they would later choose, they would certainly have given him a different first name. However, the couple, who were shaped by the 19th century, had their newcomer baptized with one of the most popular, albeit very Prussian, first names of the time.

He became familiar with the car and driver’s license relatively late, and it never became a love affair. It wasn’t just once that the battery was dead in the morning because the light on the car had been on all night. But there was always a helpful soul from “his” community to help him get started.

His thoughts and actions belonged to the essence of being human. Completely appropriate and without discussion, he was accompanied and cared for in St. Blasien by two women and in the background by two other women. In his profession, one would still turn up one’s nose at that – with him, people didn’t. His death almost 30 years ago was announced by “someone” for whom he had worked particularly hard. Resolution from last Saturday:
Joseph Hörr (1732-1785) was born in the neighboring town of Blasiwald (now part of the municipality of Schluchsee) as the son of hard-working farmers. His talent made him a monastery sculptor in St. Blasien and a sculptor at the University of Freiburg. His artistic testimonies can be found in the Black Forest (of course St. Blasien), in Switzerland, in Freiburg and in the broad Breisgau.
