A five-year-old child died at the regional hospital in Veliko Tarnovo. An internal investigation has been launched at the hospital to determine the cause of death. The girl is believed to have died after choking on food, she said BNR.
The child was taken by his grandfather yesterday to the emergency department of the hospital and placed for treatment in the pediatric ward.
According to unofficial information in the hospital room, the grandfather gave the 5-year-old girl food for sausage, from which the child choked and died.
An internal inspection has been ordered at the hospital, said the executive director, Dr. Stefan Filev.
“Let’s see what happened. Let the relatives come too. I want the cause to be investigated, “he said.
The incident with the child who died on Sunday from the hospital had not been reported to the police and the prosecutor’s office.
“We are contacting the media, interrogations of medics and examinations are starting, pre-trial proceedings will be initiated,” said Totko Totev, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Veliko Tarnovo.
