Berlin – A fake competition is currently circulating as a chain letter on Whatsapp. Apparently there is a shopping voucher worth 200 euros to be won from Amazon, reports Computer Bild. “30th anniversary. Anyone can get free gifts, ”lure the scammers.
In order to win the voucher, users should share the competition with 20 friends or five groups on Whatsapp and download an app. You shouldn’t do any of that. The app could contain malicious software – and your friends are just as unlikely to win the voucher as you are.
The alleged anniversary alone is wrong, because Amazon has been around since 1994 – so only for 27 years.
