The arm wrestling between former president Luís Filipe Vieira and the current Board, led by Rui Costa, has been official since yesterday, since the deadline for the eagles to exercise their preemptive right on the purchase of Luís Filipe Vieira’s shares expired , but the club refused (and will continue to refuse) to give an answer due to the fact that Vieira also did not respond to the letter sent to him with a request for clarification, in addition to a request to postpone the deadline for later of the elections.
Let’s do it by steps. Benfica SAD revealed on September 7th, in a statement sent to the CMVM (Securities Market Commission), that the former president of Clube da Luz informed the club that he had received an offer for the shares he owns (3.28% share capital of SAD) to the value of 7.80 euros for each of the 753,615 shares, corresponding to an overall value of almost 5.9 million euros (5,878,197 euros). In that same letter, without further details about the offer (without the potential acquirer from the outset), the former president gave until the end of yesterday for Benfica to give an answer regarding the preemptive right on the purchase of those shares.
