A BOLA – State Sec. refuses inconsistency with public at Champions: «People know they are tests» (Football)

João Paulo Rebelo, Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, addressed the criticisms regarding the presence of supporters in Porto for the Champions League final, rejecting inconsistency on the part of the Government. The government official said once again that the public should return to the stadiums next season.

«Since pilot tests were carried out with some games in the League, I think there are no inconsistencies. People understand that they are tests, that we are evaluating. This time we had the opportunity to make an assessment with a game of this nature. It is one more experience that the Government is counting on to understand if we have, in fact, conditions or not», he told SIC Notícias, continuing.

“I admit that there are many people interested in having an audience in the sports venues, the secretary of state himself is interested. Interest for the big and small clubs that have been very affected this past year. Fans deserve to be in the stadiums to support the artists and athletes deserve to have their audience too. We are creating the conditions so that this return can be as soon as possible. I’m hopeful that the next season can start with the public at the sporting venues,” he added
