Leo Martins (3), Fábio Costa and Andrade scored the winning goals, while Al Zadjali, Jalal al Sinani and Fábio Costa (ag) scored for Oman.
In the other game of the group, Senegal thrashed Uruguay (6-1). Next Sunday Portugal will face Senegal, at 18.30 hours.
The coach Mário Narciso analyzed the result of Portugal, stressing that the Portuguese armada applied itself to take down an opponent with quality: «Winning is always important. We knew it was going to be a very difficult game, that we were going to play against a physically strong team and with some processes defined. Oman is a very fast team when they manage to win the ball. If we hadn’t applied so much we wouldn’t have been able to win this game. The first hurdle has been overcome, now let’s think about the next one.”
