VSK Rada named the main reason for the Ilovaisk tragedy / GORDON

This is stated in the interim report of the Temporary Investigative Commission (VSK) of the Verkhovna Rada on the investigation of possible illegal actions of representatives of state authorities and other persons against the sovereignty of Ukraine.

The conclusion of the VSK at a briefing on November 15 was read out by its head, the people’s deputy from the “Servant of the people” Maryana Bezuglaya, they write UNIAN and “Ukrinform”.

At the same time, she did not specify what exactly and how it was improperly organized in terms of defense against Russian aggression.

According to Bezugla, the VSK established that the Ilovaisk tragedy largely determined the signing of the Minsk agreements on September 5, 2014.

According to the VSK, the events near Ilovaisk largely led to: non-introduction of martial law (led to disorganization of military operations management); erroneous personnel decisions and actions of the political and military leadership; the failure of the political and military leadership to take exhaustive measures to unblock the Ilovaisk group and organize a corridor for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the encirclement, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of human lives.

Bezuglaya noted that VSK Rada will continue to work on the Ilovaisk tragedy, after which all conclusions and proposals on the development of regulations will be published.

Context:

Council created VSK on May 19, having failed before this the creation of a commission that would deal with only one issue – the case of the Wagnerians… As a result, a commission created by the parliament investigates all possible actions of representatives of state authorities against the state sovereignty of Ukraine.

In mid-August 2014, the Ukrainian military and volunteers managed to take control of most of Ilovaisk, but after 23-24 August in the area of hostilities Russian troops entered, Ukrainian soldiers were surrounded. Then the militants and the Russian military announced that they were ready to release the Ukrainians, a corridor was created on August 29, but the Russian side violated the agreement: when the Ukrainian military in organized columns began to move from the city, they were fired upon.

The investigation is officially confirmed the death of 366 Ukrainian servicemen.

On August 14, 2017, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine published the results of the investigation of the Ilovaisk tragedy… According to the investigation, it was caused by the direct invasion of the Russian armed forces on August 23-24, 2014 and the further commission of war crimes by the Russian army.

Officially, the Russian Federation does not recognize its invasion of Ukraine, despite the facts and evidence presented by Ukraine.
