Strict Food Restrictions Imposed at Ukrainian-Polish Border: Customs Warns Travelers

Customs warned about the strict restrictions imposed by the Polish side. Citizens crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border (in the direction – leaving Ukraine) are strictly prohibited from carrying food with them.

Those who travel from Ukraine to Poland are advised not to try to bring food with them, in particular, sandwiches, vegetables, fruits, fish, meat, dairy and bakery products and other products are now prohibited.

Of the allowed, exclusively: water, canned food in metal or glass jars, 2 packs of cigarettes, alcohol in the allowed norms.

«If violations are detected, such citizens and their vehicles will be returned to Ukraine«, — notified at customs.

As reported State border service, at checkpoints there are significant queues and long waiting times. An enhanced baggage check is carried out by Polish border guards at the entrance to Poland.

Reasons for queues at the border:

slowing down customs clearance by Polish services if travelers are carrying food and prohibited items; the traditional increase in traffic during the holidays; a constant flow of people who actually live in Ukraine, but do not want to lose the status of “UKR” in Poland and cross the border every 30 days.
