The US removes the Allah symbol from the Iranian flag
The US soccer federation, US Soccer, has removed the word Allah symbol from the Iranian flag in a social media post.
The United States saw this step as a form of support for large-scale demonstrations in Iran recently demanding justice for the death of Mahsa Amini.
Mahsa Amini is a 22-year-old Kurdish woman who died last September while in the custody of the Iranian morality police. Amini was arrested by the morality police as she was accused of not wearing hijab according to the regulation.
Since then, protests against the regime of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have continued to spread across the country and abroad. A number of footballers and fans in Qatar have also echoed their support for Iranian women.
“It’s a unique graphic to show solidarity with women in Iran,” a communications official of the US soccer governing body said, quoted by the news agency. AFP extension.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Football Federation has filed a complaint with FIFA’s ethics committee.
They say the United States does not respect the national flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran which has been unveiled since 1980.
The Iranian flag consists of three horizontal sections, red, white and green, with the symbol of God’s name in the center. It was the emblem that was removed from the Iranian flag in posts on US Soccer’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.
The coat of arms was designed by Hamid Nadimi and formally approved by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on May 9, 1980.
Iran has also asked FIFA to sanction the US national team with a 10-match ban for “offending the dignity” of its country. However, the United States has restored the Iranian flag graphic perfectly.
