Muhammadiyah Withdraws from Kemendikbud Movers Organization

The Mobilizing Organization Program is a teacher quality improvement program

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Basic and Secondary Education Board of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership has withdrawn from the Program Movers Organization Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). The Chairman of the PP Muhammadiyah Basic and Secondary Education Council, Kasiyarno in his statement stated his reasons for Muhammadiyah’s setback from the program.

The first reason, Kasiyarno said, Muhammadiyah considered the selection criteria for the MOEC activator organization was unclear. The Ministry of Education and Culture, he continued, did not differentiate between CSR institutions and institutions that should receive assistance from the government.

Furthermore, Muhammadiyah felt that it was not appropriate to be compared with community organizations which had only emerged in recent years.

“Muhammadiyah has 30 thousand education units spread throughout Indonesia. The Muhammadiyah division has helped the government in organizing education since before Indonesia’s independence,” Kasiyarno said, Wednesday (7/22).

He added, Muhammadiyah would remain committed to assisting the government in improving education with various training. This also includes training in improving the competency of principals and teachers through programs implemented by Muhammadiyah.

“Even without our participation in Mover Organization Program this, “he said again.

The Mobilizing Organization Program is one of the Ministry of Education and Culture programs in improving the quality of teachers and human resources in other education sectors. In this program, the Ministry of Education and Culture will involve community organizations and individuals who have the capacity to improve the quality of teachers through various training.
