11th students will only have classes with exams in their year | Education

The Ministry of Education clarified this Thursday that there will only be face-to-face classes “for secondary school subjects in the year in which national exams are held”. “Thus, the triennial subjects only have face-to-face classes in the 12th year”, specifies the ME in responses sent to the PUBLIC.

This clarification follows a series of doubts raised by school principals, namely with regard to the number of subjects that 11th year students will have to attend when they return to schools, on 18 May.

As the PUBLIC reported in this Thursday’s edition, one of the principal doubts of the directors was this: what does it mean exactly when it is stipulated that “all classes in the disciplines with a national exam are offered in person” and that “the students attend these disciplines, regardless of coming to take the respective exams ”? – as mentioned in the guidelines of the Directorate-General for School Establishments (Dgeste) sent this Tuesday to schools.

This means, for example, that 11th grade students will take face-to-face classes in five subjects, instead of the two that they are required to take national tests, because they will have to add to these the chairs in which exams take place in the 12th Year?

The answer, therefore, is “no”. In the responses sent to the PUBLIC, the ministry confirms, however, that “students attend these subjects [as que têm provas nacionais], regardless of whether each of the students takes an exam ”. In the case of the 11th year, there are three subjects subject to national tests in each of the scientific-humanistic courses.
