Jaksa French currently investigating the allegations rape a female soldier by fellow soldiers at the presidential palace in Paris. A case that could overshadow the President’s administration Emmanuel Macron.
As reported AFP, Saturday (11/13/2021), the alleged attack took place after a farewell reception by a general and two others at the Elysee Palace, which Macron attended last July. That’s according to daily French, Liberation, which first reported the alleged rape.
Judicial sources confirmed to AFP that the accused soldier was declared as an auxiliary witness after being interrogated by the prosecutor on 12 July. This means that the soldier is still undergoing further questioning but has not been formally charged.
Macron’s office had previously been in the news after it was revealed that one of Macron’s bodyguards attacked demonstrators while posing as a police officer during May Day protests in 2018.
Last week Macron’s bodyguard, Alexandre Benalla, was sentenced to three years in prison for the incident, although he was able to avoid a prison cell by wearing an electronic wristband for one year.
“Since the Benalla case, Patrick Strzoda, Emmanuel Macron’s chief of staff, has wanted to respond decisively and swiftly as soon as there has been any inappropriate behavior by anyone working at the Elysee,” a presidential source said.
Liberation reported the two soldiers were colleagues stationed in the high-security general staff office at the Elysee Palace, which is in charge of sensitive government matters, many of which are classified or top-secret.
