A woman has died after being shot in the head Wednesday night while she was with her baby in a stroller in Manhattan, two New York City Police sources said.
Preliminary information from the authorities indicates that the woman was walking with her baby in the stroller in the area of Lexington Avenue y E. 95 Street, at about 8:23 p.m. m, when a suspect approached from behind and shot the woman at close range in the head.
The minor was not injured, authorities added. The victim was taken to the Metropolitan Hospital, but later died from his injury, police sources confirmed.
The suspected gunman was last seen wearing black clothing and fled on foot towards the East 95th Street.
The uniformed woman recovered a shell casing of unknown caliber and is looking for surveillance videos, police said.
