Like every year, the Golden Globes ceremony is a long-awaited evening in the world of cinema and television. This year, the 77th edition will take place on Sunday, January 5, 2020. Broadcast live on the American channel NBC, this evening will be presented by comedian Ricky Gervais. It will kick off the great season of ceremonies.
Barely a few days after its release on Netflix, the drama Marriage Story from Noah Baumbach enters six categories including Best Drama, Best Actor and Actress in a Drama for Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson respectively. The last Martin Scorsese, The Irishman, also has some prestigious nominations including two in the Best Supporting Actor category for the legendary Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. The Joker by Joaquin Phoenix is also a big favorite. Finally, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino is also in the running in five categories.
Nominated for the Golden Globe for the best foreign film, two films will represent France: Wretched of Ladj Ly and Portrait of the girl on fire of Céline Sciamma. They will compete against Parasite of Bong Joon-ho, which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes.
On the series side, The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston et Reese Witherspoon, both named in the category Best Actress in a Drama Series, is also a big favorite. This first original Apple TV + series tackles media storms from #MeToo. Reese Witherspoon also plays in Big Little Lies and his co-star, Nicole Kidman, will compete in the same category.
Unbelievable, this moving series qwhich tells the true story of a young girl accused of having invented her rape, also has a special place in the list of favorites.
