Geneva (dpa) – The number of Covid-19 cases reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) has fallen. Last week, 3.67 million cases were reported to the WHO, 9 percent fewer than in the seven days before, as the UN agency reported on Tuesday evening in Geneva.
Before that, the numbers had risen continuously since the beginning of June and reached a plateau in August.
Almost all continents recorded declines. Only in Africa was there a slight increase. The worldwide number of deaths fell by 7 percent to just under 60,000 in a weekly comparison. The WHO statistical report gave no explanations for the development of the numbers.
