Regarding Safe City cameras, “No data can be erased on the system”. This is what Shaffeeq Eydatoulah, representative of Huawei Mauritius, said in Moka court yesterday.
The DPP representative instructed him to check who had access to the October 16 images taken by the Safe City cameras for the Quatre-Bornes, Telfair, Moka and Ebène regions. The witness explained that the system has a register that can identify those who have logged in.
So, tracing those who have registered on the server is possible. Shaffeeq Eydatoulah will have to provide these answers on March 15th. He also said he had sent an official request to Huawei’s parent company in China to ask if it was possible to trace images from certain cameras after the 30-day deadline. He indicated that he has not had concrete answers for the moment and that he needs more time.
