More and more voices are being raised for the wearing of masks outdoors to be imposed everywhere and all the time to make the decisions of the authorities on this subject more legible. But for now, it is the department prefects who have the power to impose (or not) the wearing of a mask.
According to the accounts made by RTL.fr this Monday August 17, 58 of the 100 plus big cities impose it wearing a mask in some streets. 21 cities impose it on the markets. Only 21 cities have not taken measures making it compulsory to wear a mask outdoors.
This classification is constantly evolving. On August 11, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that he would ask the prefects to extend the wearing of masks as much as possible in outdoor public places, while the coronavirus epidemic shows signs of recovery.
