Uccle: two children alone saved from a fire by passers-by

The Brussels firefighters were called on Friday around 2 p.m. for a fire in a two-story house located on avenue Reinaert de Vos in Uccle.

DThey children, aged 6 and 8, who were temporarily alone in a dwelling on avenue Reinaert, took refuge on the balcony and were rescued by passers-by and a police patrol from the Marlow zone (Uccle / Watermael-Boitsfort / Auderghem), after a fire was declared in a two-story house in Uccle.

“The two young children were examined and treated on site by the emergency services,” said Walter Derieuw, spokesperson for the Brussels fire department. “The fire is of accidental origin. The fire started in a room which served as a laundry room and a fitness room, ”he added.

The house is currently uninhabitable. Gas and electricity have been cut off. “Two rooms were damaged by the fire and the ground floor suffered extinction water damage,” said the spokesperson.
