Sky: Third “Das Boot” season has to wait until mid-May

The first broadcast of the third season of the Sky original “Das Boot” will be delayed. The new season will not be shown on the Sky program from April 9 as originally planned, but only five weeks later. The pay TV provider has now announced May 14 as the updated start date. When asked by DWDL.de, a Sky spokeswoman said the decision was made out of consideration for the current situation in Ukraine. There is currently a real war going on there, while “Das Boot” tells of fictitious battles. However, it remains the case that the new episodes should always celebrate their linear premiere on Sky One on Saturdays at prime time. A total of ten new episodes will be available. Sky Ticket will also offer the episodes.

Tom Wlaschiha and Franz Dinda as well as Rick Okon and Pierre Kiwitt reprise their roles in the third season of “Das Boot”. Ray Stevenson, Ernst Stötzner, Luise Wolfram, Elisa Schlott, Anna Schudt, Joana Ribeiro, Florian Panzner, Artjom Gilz, Jo Hartley, Fritzi Haberlandt, Johann von Bülow, Trystan Pütter and Franz Hartwig are also part of the ensemble.

Season three follows the fate of a young submarine crew sent on a dangerous mission to the southern hemisphere, caught up in the Battle of the Atlantic and hunted by a possessed Royal Navy commander. Under the direction of Robert Ehrenberg (Franz Dinda), strong personal alliances form within the crew. Ehrenberg himself finds redemption and family ties that he believed lost forever. Marcus Ammon, Managing Director Content and Producer “Das Boot” at Bavaria Fiction, explained a few weeks ago: “‘Das Boot’ keeps reinventing itself and illuminates the most diverse facets of war. In the third season, too, the series kidnaps the Spectators to several spectacular locations: to the home front in Kiel, to neutral Lisbon and to a duel between a German submarine and a British destroyer.”

Hans Steinbichler and Dennis Gansel each directed five of the upcoming episodes. Colin Teevan and Tony Saint are the Head authors, assisted in their work by Judith Angerbauer. Producers of “Das Boot” are Moritz Polter, Jan S. Kaiser, Marcus Ammon, Frank Jastfelder and Jason Simms for Sky Studios. Julia Jaensch (Sky) and Caroline Fischer (Bavaria Fiction) act as producers. It was also recently confirmed that the series will have a fourth season. Bavaria Fiction wants to start shooting in June.
