WhatsApp Desktop receives dark mode and animated stickers

Despite its shortcomings, WhatsApp, with over two billion users worldwide, is the most popular instant messaging app on our planet. To avoid problems, the development of new features is carried out in a maniacal way, with the innovations that are tested for months before reaching the end user.

This is the case of some novelties available for the desktop and web variants of WhatsApp but also for mobile versions, which will reach users over the next few weeks, a generic term much loved by the developer.

The first novelty concerns the animated stickers in mobile apps, which took more than a year to develop. If you like to express emotions with stickers, you can now do it more clearly with animated ones. Very welcome is the arrival of the QR codes for profiles, feature present in beta since May.

It becomes easier to share your WhatsApp profile without having to provide your phone number, with a simple scan of the generated QR code. And what about the dark mode, arrived on mobile platforms in spring and now finally available also for desktop apps and for the web client? This feature is also rolling out and will take some time to reach all users.

Finally, you can maximize the video of a single person during a group call, simply by long pressing on the person himself, currently only on the mobile apps. The icon to start a video call in test chats with up to 8 participants is also displayed.

As said, the news is being rolled out but it will take a few weeks to reach all users of the web and desktop versions.
