A group of pensioners gathered today in front of El Capitolio to carry out civil disobedience to demand the approval of the Decent Retirement Law.
House Bill 2434, passed without amendment and unanimously in the House of Representatives, is in conference committee after amendments were passed in the Senate that were rejected by the House.
On social networks, several groups and netizens have shared images of the protest.
PENSIONADXS take to the streets demanding that @SenadoPR and @CamaraConPR pass # PC2434 LAW FOR A WORTHY WITHDRAWAL. They have spent more than 48 hours in front of the Capitol, in rain and sun, staying up late to defend the only thing they have left: the pension for which they worked for more than 30 years. pic.twitter.com/FVNx2emy0A

The Conference Committee has until midnight to agree on the project.
PC 2434 creates the Law for a Worthy Retirement, which would establish the public policy that will govern the conversations of the Government of Puerto Rico regarding any debt adjustment plan. In addition, they indicated that this ensures that any restructuring agreement that is negotiated by the Board and the bondholders does not attempt against the well-being of the people or include the reduction of pensions.
