Time for Christmas shopping, and there is no shortage of opportunities in the city where you can find many special ideas. There are many craft and vintage markets, where you can buy unique items or where you can give solidarity to those who need it most. Christmas lights and attractions for a magical weekend for children and the whole family in one of the main parks of the city. Christmas is approaching and it’s time to taste one of the typical recipes of this period, the panettone. Do not miss the appointment with many shows in various theaters of the city and the art exhibitions, which can only be visited for a few weeks.
What to do in Rome on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th December
The tastings are back, that of the Christmas time of the Panettone Festival in Rome and Lazio at the Boscolo Circo Massimo and that of beer with a party dedicated by Eataly. At Ragusa Off, shopping becomes Christmas with the ChristmasLand in Rome market, and for a purchase that leaves its mark and is in solidarity, there is the Christmas Space at the Emergency Info Point. Space for exhibitions, with Sebastião Salgado’s shots at the Maxxi Museum and with a journey to discover Caravaggio’s “Judith and Holofernes” exhibited at Palazzo Barberini. Not only the magic of Christmas at Cinecittà World, where the White Circus show “Digital Circus in Wonderland” arrives for two days. The tastings
Sunday 5 December – from 11:30 to 19:30 – at the Boscolo Circo Massimo will be held Panettone Maximo 2021 – Agrimontana, the third edition of Panettone Festival of Rome and Lazio. An enchanting high-ranking Christmas Market that will include, in addition to the panettone tasting counters, show cooking by great catering pastrychefs and in-depth talks on the theme of craftsmanship. It ends on Sunday Beer Festival at Eataly. Saturday is the Cargo Burger Lab program with many different and very tasty sandwiches. Sunday is the time for Made in Food and Steak Sandwich. There will also be selections of bottled beers at shelf prices and guided tours of the Brewery, to get to know the production that takes place on the first floor of the Roman store.
The craft and vintage markets
Back on Pigneto Vinyl Fest all’Ellington Club, with many proposals of vinyls but also of vintage and second hand. During the day there will be music, played strictly on vinyl and brunch combined with mixology cocktails. Sunday in the spaces of Together Mansion in Trastevere comes the second Swap Market dedicated to women, men and children. A perfect event to exchange clothes and accessories, and find sustainable Christmas gifts. In Castelnuovo di Farfa, in the cloister of the Abbey, there is Sunday “Per le vie del Borgo”, the antiques market, Crafts, Modern Antiques and Vintage Collectibles. A great way to spend a day among the beauties of Sabina and also enjoy the gastronomic tradition of this area.
The shows at the theater
At the Ambra Jovinelli Theater it goes on stage the show “The invisible husband”, with Maria Amelia Monti and Marina Massironi. A hilarious comedy about the disappearance of our relationship life. The two protagonists accompany us with their very personal comedy on a journey that gives the chills for how hot and current it is. At the Teatro degli Eroi the director Marco Balocchi puts on on stage “The betrayal of Don Quixote”, a polite, amusing, melancholy text, with ironic metateatral incursions that reveal its scenic play. At the Teatro de ‘Servi lo show “I dedicate a song to you”, a family autobiography in which everyone has their own habits and gestures that intertwine generating a series of comic and humorous ideas.
The Christmas World village exhibition
Starting this weekend, the Auditorium Parco della Musica welcomes Christmas World, the largest experiential exhibition to celebrate Christmas and promote the differences that embellish every culture. An open-air museum where you can travel through the Christmas atmospheres of the whole world through an exhibition itinerary where the iconic monuments of the cities explored will be the protagonists, handcrafted by the most appreciated Italian artists in the sector. Sebastião Salgado’s photographs at Maxxi
The exhibition on the Amazon, premiered in Italy, with more than 200 works immerses us in the universe of the forest by combining Salgado’s impressive photographs with the concrete sounds of the forest. The exhibition highlights the fragility of this ecosystem, showing that in the protected areas where the Indian communities live, ancestral guardians, the forest has suffered almost no damage and invites us to reflect on the ecological situation and the relationship that men have today with it. Art and activism at the Queer Art Festival

The film “Rocky Giraldi – Crime at Porta Portese” at Cinecittà Studios
On Sunday, in three screenings, people smile again with the new film by the Roman director Mirko Alivernini “Rocky Giraldi – Crime at Porta Portese” premiered at Cinecittà Studios, in the prestigious Federico Fellini room.
