History of angioedema
What happened ? Maxime Beltra came to be vaccinated around 2 p.m. in the center of Sète, Monday July 26. “I didn’t want him to go, but he wanted to do it to go to Greece. I told him to point out that he had had an allergic history with angioedema. That’s what he did”, relates the father of the family. “The young man said he had a history of dietary anaphylactic shock with angioedema, but he could still be vaccinated. We kept him for thirty minutes instead of the usual fifteen and he was able to go home ”, explains Jean-Christophe Calmes, head of the vaccination center.
In the evening, according to the information that we were able to verify, Maxime Beltra went to the restaurant for dinner. It was there that he allegedly started to experience an allergic reaction. “My daughter called us around 10 pm to tell us he was having edema. He had angioedemas when he was little, we had everything we needed. The firefighters also did everything they could do, but the reaction was utterly violent ”, continues Frédéric Beltra. At around 11 p.m., the young man’s death was declared.
“Towards a food allergy”
Is the vaccine involved? For the father of the family, the vaccine trail should not be ruled out. “Yes there are allergies, there was the restaurant, but we cannot pretend that the vaccine had not taken place”, considers Frédéric Beltra, who evokes a possible “Explosive cocktail” of all these factors.
At this stage, the cause of death is not yet defined. The Regional Pharmacovigilance Center (CRPV) of Montpellier, which received the report, gathered again this Wednesday the information to communicate the file to the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM).
“It is still in progress, but I can already tell you that we are not moving towards frank accountability for the vaccine. Many elements lean towards a food allergy ”, explains Professor Jean-Luc Faillie, head of the CRPV.
Among other clues: the particularly long time between exposure and the allergic reaction. “Usually the shock is almost immediate. Effects which occur more than three hours after exposure cannot be considered to be anaphylaxis ”, develops the specialist.
Open judicial information
Above all, the young man would have been in contact with a food to which he was allergic, according to the first findings of the Montpellier prosecutor’s office, which opened a judicial investigation “In search of the causes of death”, this Wednesday.
