Catarina Alves de Oliveira is a Portuguese astrophysicist and is responsible for calibrating one of the instruments of the James Webb space telescope. During the telescope tests, an image does not come out of his head and he even went to work earlier just to see what was going on in a room next to his. “I would sit and look, fascinated, at the gilded mirrors being meticulously mounted on the Webb’s structure”, she tells us.
