Germany will not provide military aircraft to Ukraine, Reuters reports.
“We have provided all kinds of defense materials and sent the weapons we have told you about, but it is also true that we need to think very carefully about what we are doing and military planes are certainly not part of that,” said Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
He also said there was no point in a military solution in Ukraine and that he hoped a solution could be reached through talks between Russia and Ukraine.
It also became clear from his words that the German government has been working for several months to reduce the country’s dependence on imported fossil fuels.
“There are many technical issues that need to be resolved,” he said.
