The World Bank will provide Ukraine with a loan for vaccination

The loan, in particular, will reimburse the expenses of the National Health Service for vaccination of 10 million people.

The World Bank (WB) has approved the allocation of a loan of 90 million euros to Ukraine for vaccination within the framework of the global COVAX initiative. On Tuesday, May 11, reports Interfax – Ukraine with reference to the information of the WB.

It is noted that the money was allocated for a new project Emergency response to COVID-19 and vaccination in Ukraine, which, in particular, provides for reimbursement of the costs of the National Health Service for vaccination of 10 million people.

“The WB approved a new EUR90 million project aimed at strengthening the health sector to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 Emergency Response and Vaccination Project in Ukraine will support the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination program for priority populations and strengthen the capacity of the health sector. Of Ukraine in preventing, detecting and responding to the consequences of a pandemic, “the bank said.

They also added that the project will help not only in the procurement of vaccines, but also in improving the infrastructure for their storage and logistics.

“This includes providing services, reimbursing vaccination costs, expanding testing opportunities, strengthening IT systems, and conducting a campaign to raise public awareness of vaccinations,” the WB said.

WB Regional Director for Eastern Europe Arup Banerjee, the project should accelerate the pace of vaccination while maintaining a focus on high-risk populations.

Recall nnegotiations between the government of Ukraine and the leadership of the World Bank in relation to this loan have been conducted since December last year.

It was also reported that Ukraine expects $ 700 million from the World Bank… However, continued cooperation with the IMF and the adoption of a number of agrarian laws were named as a condition.
