Villena distribute literature at home for the day of the book

Villenagoing to deliver3,600 books at homefor all the boys and girls of the city as a commemoration of theDay of the book. With this action, the City Council wants to recognize the effort they make by staying at home, while promoting the habit of reading.

The City Council of this municipality, with the support of the entire Municipal corporation, has organized the distribution of books and stories for all the boys and girls in the citybetween 3 and 12 years of age. “It is a gesture to recognize their behavior and patience for so many days without being able to leave home,” said the Councilor for Children, Adolescents and Youth, Eva García.

In this way, the Villena City Council celebrates Book Day, which is commemorated on April 23. In total 3,600 books and stories will be distributed at home among the minors within this activity included in the ‘Sal de Casa’ youth program. “It was an obligation to remember the youngest in such a delicate time and there is no better way to do it than through literature,” said the Mayor, Fulgencio Cerdán.

In the selection of the texts, preference has been given tobooks and stories by different local authorsthanks to the selective work of the staff of theMunicipal Public Libraries. The orders have been made to bookstores in our city, which supports local commerce in addition to promoting the authors of Villena.

The work of preparing for the shipment of books is being carried out by the monitors of theYoung Space. The deliveries will begin this week and will be received by mail in the mailbox of the houses. The selection of works has been classified into three age ranges to adapt the books to its readers.

From theVillena Town Hallpublicly thanks all the boys and girls for the effortstay at homefor more than a month without being able to visit friends and family. With the distribution of the books, all of them are invited to enjoy and share the pleasure of reading at home through a letter written by the mayor.

In the letter, the Mayor points to the youth of the municipality as the “protagonist in this story, avoiding infecting you and your family.” So he emphasizes that “for this great effort you are making, you deserve the best gift.”

Similarly, Fulgencio José Cerdán transmits a message of encouragement assuring them that “this will happen sooner than you think and we will meet again on the street, at school and in our squares.”
