Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese companies are ready to boost production of the African swine fever (ASF) vaccine to meet domestic and export demand.

This was stated by Tran Xuan Hanh, deputy general manager of the national company NAVETCO, during an interview with the press, saying that the ASF vaccine produced by Vietnam has shown its effectiveness after a trial period.

He added that his company has prepared all the necessary resources, from labor, raw materials and machinery to start the mass production of this antiviral substance.

The entity sent records to the Philippines so that the competent bodies of that country consider the importation of the Vietnamese vaccine. Thailand also showed interest in the NAVETCO vaccine. Soon a work delegation from Myanmar will visit Vietnam to evaluate the aforementioned product.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam’s ASF vaccine is the first of its kind for the past 100 years. With high determination, NAVETCO and AVAC companies have successfully researched and produced the drug.

Phung Duc Tien, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, reported that Vietnam’s ASF vaccine has achieved good results abroad.

In May and June 2023, NAVETCO sent a work delegation to Dominica to help that country carry out the pilot injection of the NAVET-ASFBAC vaccine. After the good result, Dominica proposed an order for 2,500 doses.

The AVAC company also conducted a trial of its vaccine in the Philippines and the product showed great effectiveness in the 1,000 pigs injected. Therefore, the Philippine Department of Veterinary Medicine proposed the import and use of 300,000 doses of Vietnamese vaccine./.
