Velislav Pavlov – one of the last actors who played side by side with Tatiana Lolova

In the “Portal” the artist and his 9-year-old son enter the same image

Can we go back in time, change it and move on with our lives? Or go into the future and find out what awaits us? The BNT series “Portal” helped the viewers to fantasize, to appreciate the time in which they live, and to go back 40 years to socialist Bulgaria. The main character, who bravely crosses the “portal” of time, and several times, is the “ubiquitous” Velislav Pavlov. He plays the criminal psychologist Krum Bonev. His life turned upside down when his long-missing uncle, Assoc. Prof. Dimo Troyanov, nicknamed Djingibi, appeared at his door.

The strangest thing is that he still looks young and unchanged. This is due to travel, but not in different places, but in time. The greatest miracle in the lives of both is the existence of a portal of time. However, the walled balcony, through which they can pass, saves them in various situations and changes their lives. That is why Krum goes back 40 years to socialist Bulgaria, when is the exact time when he could have prevented his father’s death. If that happened, he would change the tragic fate of his family.

Velislav Pavlov himself would not want to go back in time. He was born in Berkovitsa, grew up there and moved to Sofia at the age of 20. His childhood was spent in many games with friends outside, reading books, football, cycling.

“I do not want to

transferred to the past,

but not for the future

I’m sure

It is something that does not exist yet. I want to experience it, to get there. The most important thing is to try to be with both feet in the present “, says the actor.

His character Krum Bonev in “Portal” is trying to change the course of events in the past to save his father. But the actor Velislav Pavlov would only like the changes for the last 40 years to have happened much more radically. It is important for him that the society has communication, to tell the important truths in time. Everything about life 40-50 years ago should be clear to people now.

When he returned in 1979, criminal psychologist Krum Bonev saw himself as a child playing with his friends. The boy who enters the image of little Krum is actually the son of Velislav Pavlov. 9-year-old John studies at the Music School, plays the clarinet and has two participations in cinema. His father says he is very responsible and attends the photos with interest. John’s childhood was spent studying, spending time with friends, playing electronic games and playing music.

Comparing his childhood years with those of his son, the actor finds that the two are similar in playing outside with friends. If he has the opportunity to say something to his childish self,

Velislav Pavlov would

warned only

not to smoke cigarettes

“Since I was a child, my life as it has flowed, where it has led me, I am happy. The things that happen to me are desired, dreamed of. “The acting profession is one of those things,” he said. In fact, curiosity drives him to the acting profession. “The times when I was going to apply were during socialism and shortly after. Information was scarce, many things were forbidden, and not everything could be seen. This provoked me to understand what cinema really is and how it is made. I wanted to understand what it’s like to be an actor, “says Pavlov. With a lot of watching movies and reading about what cinema is, he managed to reach this profession.

Pavlov plays side by side with the great Tatiana Lolova. The BNT film series turned out to be the place where she entered her last role. The image was written especially for her. Aunt Zori is an energetic, very smiling, cheerful, curious and good woman who shelters Krum Bonev in her home for a few days. Velislav Pavlov says of her that she is “very generous,

generous with love

adequate, genuine

in his presence and

pure c

curiosity about

your profession ”

The two met on the occasion of “Ubiquitous” – the Bulgarian proposal for an Oscar nomination for a foreign language film in 2018. Tatiana Lolova met with Pavlov because she really likes the film.

One of the distinguishing features of the mini-series “Portal” on BNT is that it sounds very good Bulgarian music. In one of the scenes Pavlov plays the guitar and sings. In fact, when he is 15-16 years old, he wants to play and starts practicing. He succeeds, but later he forgets the guitar and does not touch it for years.

I came home on

one guitar and again

I started playing

I’m not good, but I play very well by playing. I’m trying to learn new things about myself, because it’s useful for my profession, you learn the rhythm, “says the actor.

At the same time, his acting work brings him a lot of positive energy. Feedback from the audience is important to him, and he rejoices when viewers love the characters he plays. “The audience somehow finds itself in the images. And this is the job of the actor, who has to say something through the movies or through the stage “, Velislav Pavlov thinks. For him, his favorite role is always the last, but all the images he enters are important because they are part of his path as an actor. In each role he gives something of himself. He puts his own experience into a character to look as authentic as possible. For his image in the “Portal” he gave Krum from personal memories from his childhood, relationships with family and friends. He put empathy for those years so that Krum Bonev could understand the people and what was happening then.

Pavlov’s program is quite busy, but in his free time he likes to watch movies, read books and spend time with his family. He often walks in the mountains and his favorite place is the Balkans above his native Berkovitsa. Now, in the summer, he prefers to camp on the wild beaches.

After “The Portal”, the actor participated in two premieres. “Shahnameh: A Tale of the Hall” is played at the Azaryan Theater, and Pavlov’s character is a warlord, a warrior who gives up his own son and sends him to the top of a mountain. Velislav Pavlov’s next premiere is “Dawn Scenes”, which will be presented in the fall at the National Student House. The director of this play is his wife – Juliana Saiska.
