However, race steward decided not to give a penalty because he thought it happened because Pol Espargaro was pushed by Jack Miller.

The decision drew criticism from Valentino Rossi.

“This situation is out of control. In my opinion, every time you cross the green area of the circuit, you have to move back one position to get a penalty,” said Rossi, quoted as saying. BolaSport.com from GP One.

“The limit area makes the track safer, but there should be a barrier or grass,” he continued.

Rossi also asked race stewards to have one voice in addressing similar incidents in the future.

“I know the race stewards are under pressure after the crash of Johann Zarco and Franco Morbidelli (at the 2020 Austrian MotoGP race),” said Rossi.

“However, they must have a uniform assessment. Their job is not easy, but we have to level up,” said Rossi.

The Petronas Yamaha team rider compared the situation of Pol Espargaro with the Moto2 racer, Jorge Martin.

“Jorge Martin did not get a penalty last week for the same reason, then was penalized in this race because he was three seconds faster than the rider behind him. This alone is stupid because there should be clear rules.”

“Meanwhile, Pol didn’t even get a penalty because they thought he was pushed by Jack Miller,” said Rossi.
