US Air Force Officer Aaron Bushnell Sets Himself on Fire in Front of Israeli Embassy to Protest Occupation of Palestine

US Air Force officer Aaron Bushnell set himself on fire to protest Israel’s occupation of Palestine. Bushnell’s protest was in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC.

Bushnell lit the fire by shouting, “I will not participate in this genocide anymore, free Palestine.” The incident happened around 1 pm local time.

Immediately after the incident, the Metropolitan Police Department and the United States Fire Service intervened and extinguished the fire. It is reported that Bushnell was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. The Israeli embassy has confirmed that no officers were injured.

Bushnell filmed the protest himself and live-streamed it on the social media platform Twitch. Twitch itself later removed the video from the platform. The action was cited as a violation of Twitch’s guidelines. Following the protest, security has been increased in front of the Israeli embassy. The investigation into the incident is in progress.

Since the beginning of the Israeli-Palestinian war, many people have appeared in public spaces in the United States, declaring their support for both sides. About 30,000 Palestinians were killed in the conflict that began on October 7.
