A video, posted this Sunday on social networks, shows an alleged thief humiliated and mistreated by a group of men in a house in Sacré-Coeur. For internet users, these images are not only revealing of the “lack of respect” towards women in Senegal, but also the act is prohibited by the country’s law.
A “thief” humiliated in Sacré-Coeur
The seconds in this video are non-violent, but they leave obscene traces punctuated by an incredible abuse. We see the alleged thief filmed, her breasts affected when she tried to steal, according to their attackers. The scene takes place in a house located in Sacré-Coeur (Dakar district).
Amnesty Senegal’s reaction
Very quickly, this video published by the authors on social networks, shocked Internet users and made react the president of Amnesty Senegal, Seydi Gassama. The latter, in fact, questions the judicial authorities about this “intolerable” act.
“I post this video which circulates in social networks and I appeal to the Ministers of the Interior, Aly Ngouille Ndiaye and of Justice Malick Sall. Neighborhood vigilance groups and their criminal methods should no longer be tolerated… ”, he claimed.
