Magdeburg (dpa / sa) – Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister of Science Armin Willingmann (SPD) has praised the work of psychological counseling at universities. It is “important that the student unions (…) have intensified their advisory services,” said Willingmann on Friday. One knows about the “extraordinary situation of the students in the Corona crisis”.
In the advice centers for students, the employees noticed a greater influx during the pandemic. First-year students in particular felt alone and left to themselves. Thanks to the online curriculum, many would not have a chance to “dock into student life with routines and work processes,” said Elke Eckhardt from the psychological counseling for students at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Bernburg. Some of the students would become so lonely. “If you are not stable in terms of your personal structure, you have no tools to take countermeasures in this situation.”
